SM Wong Nai Siong aims for RM100K through sales
SIBU: SM Wong Nai Siong is aiming to raise RM100,000 from its charity sale to upgrade the school’s facilities in both software and hardware departments.
Its principal Lu Yew Hiing said they were grateful to all those who have helped in one way or another to make the charity sale a success.
The sale was conducted at the school premises yesterday, and among those who came were UCA president Kong Ham Khim and United People’s Party (UPP) Service Community Board chairman Datuk Andrew Wong Kee Yew.
Lu said the event was also a good platform for the teachers, students and parents to mingle, and in the process, develop rapport with one another and understand the needs of the school better. He said it was vital for the school to keep abreast with the changing trend in order to provide a conducive environment for the students to study in.
“Fees collected from the students are not enough to keep the school going. We need to look at other means to source for money to keep the school alive,” he added.
The charity sale, he added, would teach the students about financial managemenet, how to run a businesses and strengthen inter-personal relationship.
He was also happy to note that Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg had, on March 25, promised he would continue to support Chinese independent schools.
“It is thus hoped that our government will pay more attention to developing Chinese education and provide more funds so the schools can continue to produce students who can help in nation-building.”
