KUCHING: A total of 210 riders will take part in the ‘ Mukah Jamboree Fun Ride’ on April 22 from Mukah to Dalat to raise funds for paralysed road accident victim Fifi Nurlyana Syafina Mohamad Adika.

The eight-year- old girl also lost both her parents and elder brother in the accident at KM5 MukahBalingian Road two years ago.

Organised by the Mukah Bicycle Club, and supported by Lea Sports Centre and Lea Centre through the No Fear brand, the charity fun ride will begin at 7am at Tapak Pesta Kaul in Mukah.

Lea senior operations manager Poh Siok Hoon handed over sponsorship to club president Jamil Othman yesterday.

“This year is the third edition and we have decided to raise funds for Fifi to help and support her needs in important areas in her life,” Jamil said.

“Half of the proceeds from the entry fees collected will go towards the fund, apart from kind donations. We aim to collect at least RM5,000.”

Poh said as a corporation, Lea is delighted to be part of the charity fun ride to help Fifi, who is being cared for by her grandmother and uncle.

Minister of Welfare, Community Well Being, Women, Family and Childhood Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah, who witnessed the handover said the fun ride also promotes an active and healthy lifestyle, fosters community ties, and enhances social harmony.

“More importantly, it instils compassion and kindness and spreads good among people in our community,” she said.

“Fifi is still young and had to face such hardship at such a tender age. Being paralysed for life, it is good that there are people reaching out to help because she will need a lot of support for her future, especially in education and welfare.”

Fatimah suggested all funds raised and donations collected be used for Fifi’s educational needs.

The entry fee for the fun ride is RM60 per cyclist inclusive of one Tshirt, a finisher’s medal, and a meal. There will also be a lucky draw for riders.
