Bukit Goram organisations get grants totalling RM440,000
KAPIT: A total of 37 organisations in the Bukit Goram state constituency received state government grants totalling RM440,000 yesterday.
Bukit Goram assemblyman Jefferson Jamit Unyat presented the grants to organisations such as village security and development committees (JKKKs), women bureaus, parentteacher associations, religious institutions, and other nongovernmental organisations.
He said apart from MRP grants, state assemblypersons also have funds allocated to them for Rural Transformation Programme ( RTP) projects.
On the Kapit parliamentary seat, he said the Barisan Nasional ( BN) has chosen incumbent Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi, who is Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development, to defend the seat.
“To vote for Datuk Nanta is to vote for development. In the election, every vote counts and I appeal to all voters to turn up in full force to vote for Datuk Nanta to ensure a big majority win.
“This is important to deliver a clear message to the top government leadership that Kapit has strong BN supporters. When the government sees that we are strong supporters, they will reciprocate by delivering more development to Kapit,” he stressed.
He called on all community leaders, leaders of nongovernmental organisations, and individuals to explain to others why they should support Nanta in the upcoming election.
“Opposition parties come to Kapit just before the election to beg for sympathy and fish for votes, but after the election, they disappear. Their presence does not help Kapit to prosper but causes splits among the people.
“We don’t need their presence because here we have a good team under the leadership of Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Jemut Masing to lead us into a new era of infrastructure development to prosper the economy through integrated land development,” he added.
