Contract forced me out of Super Junior — Han Geng
BEIJING: Singer- actor Han Geng has disclosed that contractual constraints had forced him out of Super Junior. It come to the point where he could no longer tolerate them. Complained Han Geng: “The agency controls your image and wouldn’t let you do the things you want. An idol must put the agency and the group ahead of himself.” He was eager to go into acting and had several discussions with publicists at SM Entertainment, but nothing came of it. a lot of fans. An idol. That’s what I was.” But he added,”I wanted to act.” His tone turned a shade darker as he said: “Dancing and jumping even at the age of 30... I had thoughts of my own.”
Han Geng made the revelations during a talk show. Asked if he cared for his fans, he replied, “I do need the fans but I didn’t have much to offer to them.”
Han Geng had debuted as a member of Super Junior in 2005. In 2009, he left abruptly and sued SM Entertainment.
Since then, he has had acting stints in China.
Meanwhile, Super Junior will return to the limelight on Apr 12 to promote their repackaged album Replay.
Only six members will be involved because Heechul would not be able to join them.
Publicists at Label SJ said: “‘ Due to health-related issues, member Heechul will not be participating in music show promotions for the group’s eighth repackaged album Replay, being released on Apr 12.”
