Najib calls for new, strong mandate for continuity of transforma­tion

PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said yesterday the Barisan Nasional needed a strong new mandate in the 14th General Election to allow it to proceed with a more extensive, inclusive and comprehens­ive transforma­tion for the people and country in driving Malaysia to the pinnacle.

He said the BN government had delivered through numerous achievemen­ts and successes, and had proven itself to be capable of delivering, and would continue to deliver.

“If the people choose and give the BN government the mandate to govern for the next five years, InsyaAllah (God willing), we in the top leadership pledge to fulfill more effectivel­y and strive in our obligation­s to elevate the nation to become one of the 20 most outstandin­g countries in the world by TN50,” he said.

In a live special address on the dissolutio­n of the 13th Parliament over RTM, Najib promised that he and the other top leaders in BN would ensure that developmen­t would flow throughout the country, from Perlis to Sarawak and Sabah, and reach every area and community, “lleaving no stone unturned.”

“For the sake of our beloved people and country, let’s continue our journey towards greater transforma­tion with BN,” he said.

Najib said he and Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi as well as other BN top leaders would be going to the masses to enlighten the people on the coalition’s’s manifesto and road map for the country.

He urged the people to assess the BN government on the basis of its stability and vast experience as well as track record of excellence which had been acknowledg­ed internatio­nally.

The prime minister cited the BN government’s’s ability in maintainin­g the country’s’s prevailing peace and security as among its achievemen­ts over the last six decades, particular­ly in the past nine years. — Bernama
