Kapit to get new Community Sports Complex

-

KAPIT: A new Community Sports Complex will be built here under the third rolling plan of the 11th Malaysia Plan.

Bukit Goram assemblyman Jefferson Jamit Unyat said the complex will add to sports facilities available for Kapit and Belaga.

“In the last State Legislative Assembly sitting, I highlighted the need to build a new sports complex, especially the urgency to have another football field to meet the ever increasing demand. The present Padang Sukan along Jalan Padang Sukan- Jalan Airport is too congested.

“Kapit is in dire need of another sports stadium. Previously, there were two football fields here. However, the Kapit District Council Field has been used for other purposes so there is a need to have another one,” he said when officiating at ‘Program Sinergi Belia 2018’ on Thursday.

He said although Kapit is a rural town, it has produced outstanding athletes.

“Many of our students compete at the national level school sports meet. The football academy, through systematic training programmes will also unearth talents in football,” he said.

Jamit added the government is aware of the importance of youth development. He said National Transformation 2050 is designed to help youths become future leaders.

Jamit advised youths to be disciplined and focussed on selfimprovement to become capable leaders.
