UPP to stage ‘The Power of Love’ charity fundraising run April 22

KUCHING: United People’s Party ( UPP) Community Board (South) is organising a run to raise funds for charitable organisations.

A press statement yesterday said the run will commence on April 22 ( Sunday) at 6.30am at Crown Towers, Jalan Pending here.

With the theme ‘ The Power of Love’, the event aims to help charitable organisations by providing financial support for them to help those in need.

The event will be officiated by UPP president Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh, who is International Trade and E-Commerce Minister.

Each participant will receive a uniquely designed T- shirt upon signing up for the run, while each finisher will collect a speciallycrafted medal.

A total o f 10 char i table organisations will be receiving funds on the day of the event.

They are Kuching Autistic Association, Persatuan OKU Kuching (House of Joy), Sarawak Society for the Deaf Kuching, Kidney Association of Sarawak, Sarawak Chi ldren’s Cancer Society, Kuching Life Care Society, Carnation Single Mother Association, Sarawak Hun Nam Siang Tng, PDK Sentuhan Kasih Kuching and Diabetes Malaysia Sarawak Branch.

Kuchingites and business associates are called upon to support the charity fundraising event through sponsorships or other forms of assistance.

The organising committee also extended its appreciation to Suntory Beverage & Food Malaysia Sdn Bhd for its generosity in sponsoring isotonic drinks for the run.

Race packs will be available for collection on April 14 and 15 at Crown Square, Jalan Pending here from 10am to 8pm.

Participants are reminded to bring along their payment slips for collection of their race packs.

Registration forms can be obtained from UPP headquarters at Lot 7686-7688, 2nd Floor Jalan Pending, Kuching (next to UMW Toyota) from 8am to 5pm (Monday to Friday).

Alternatively, members of the public can collect the form and register at the same time at CJC counter, MBKS on April 12 and April 19 from 6: 30pm to 8pm.
