Curtin Malaysia balances excellence with student experience
MIRI: Curtin University Malaysia ( Curtin Malaysia) continues to be highly regarded in international circles, rating top among three universities in the world for international study by Studyinternational.com, a leading global education portal which provides information to students looking to study overseas.
In an article on the portal entitled ‘ Universities that balance excellence with an unrivalled student experience’, Curtin Malaysia is described as being in an ideal location in Malaysia surrounded by ‘natureinfused national parks, the world’s largest cave systems and stunning beaches’, making it an ideal place where students can get a world class education and international experience with excellent student support services.
The other two universities in the portal’s pick were California State University in the United States and University of Otago in New Zealand.
Curtin Malaysia Pro ViceChancellor, Professor Jim Mienczakowski was pleased with the university’s recognition as the best in the world for the second time by Studyinternational.com.
The university was among the portal’s top four picks of universities globally that provide ‘education in jaw- dropping locations’ last September.
“As Curtin University’s largest international campus and global hub in Asia, we’re already up there in the global ranks.
Curtin is recognised as being a global university ranked in the top one percent of universities worldwide in the Academic Ranking of World Universities. In Malaysia, we are also a topranked university in the Setara and D- Setara rating systems,” he said in a statement.
Professor Mienczakowski who is also Curtin Malaysia’s president and chief executive added that the university is proud to offer a recognised world class education.
“It also offers a global experience that comes hand-in-hand with international study, located in exotic Borneo with a myriad of opportunities for adventure and cultural immersion, and a truly international student community drawn from over 50 countries,” he added.
Curtin Malaysia offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in engineering, science, business and humanities and foundation programmes that feed directly into its undergraduate programmes.
The courses are identical to those at its parent campus in Perth, Western Australia, and undergraduate students have the option to transfer there at any time to complete their degrees, adding yet another dimension to their international experience.
Moreover most of the courses are accredited by professional bodies globally and the university’s strong links with industry, business and the broader community enhance the learning process and present opportunities for work-integrated learning, collaborative research and industry engagement.
