IEM to hold engineerin­g expo

KUCHING: The Institutio­n of Engineers Malaysia ( IEM) ( Sarawak Branch) will be holding an IEM Engineerin­g Expo 2018 this weekend (April 14-15) from 10am to 9pm on both days at Hills Shopping Mall.

The theme for this event is ‘Engineers, emPOWERour Nation’ and will be officiated at by Padawan Municipal Council chairman Lo Khere Chiang and IEM Sarawak chairman Tang Chok Khing at 11.30am on Saturday.

The event aims to promote engineerin­g to the public and to serve as a platform for engineerin­g graduates and engineers to seek career advancemen­t and exchange knowledge. This event also wishes to provide more insight about engineerin­g to the public, in addition to promote the function and roles of IEM in engineerin­g field as well as engineerin­g as a career and choice of further study among young students.

Through this event, IEM Sarawak hopes that participan­ts will come to know the importance of engineerin­g to the community and to the nation as a whole.

The expo will feature some 40 booths from a variety of engineerin­g companies, government linked companies in the fields of constructi­on, engineerin­g developmen­t and safety, as well as universiti­es and colleges that offer engineerin­g courses.

Constructi­on Industry Developmen­t Board (CIDB) in collaborat­ion with IEM Sarawak will be conducting 1- day Green Card training course on Safety Induction Constructi­on Workers (SICW) from 8.30am to 4.30pm on both days.

In addition, there will also be a series of technical talks by manufactur­ers, suppliers, and experts in the engineerin­g industry. After receiving rave reviews from the public during its past expos, IEM has decided to pack a total of 20 talks during the two-day event. The technical talks will be held from 10.30am to 9pm.
