KUCHING: Sarawak Convention Bureau ( SCB) continues to promote inclusivity of rural communities in its recent corporate social responsibility (CSR) excursion at Kampung Sting, Bengoh Valley in conjunction with the Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID) 2018.

“Today, Sarawak joins in the global conversation to advocate the real impacts and real results of Business Events. This sector has the capacity to bring about real change to communities, especially to those who need it the most,” said SCB chief operating officer Amelia Roziman in a press statement issued yesterday.

Apart from channelling efforts into the construction of a chapel at the resettled Bidayuh village of Kampung Sting, SCB also contributed basic homestay facilities in supporting the village’s shift from agriculture to eco-tourism.

“Business Events is a legacybuilding catalyst to champion sustainability and economic growth within the state. It lends a hand to developing the core of each sector from imparting expertise in key areas to elevating brand profile. This is what our campaign, Redefining Global Tribes, aims to achieve - to unite Business Events communities under one global identity in establishing a stronger economy,” she said.

The Global Meetings Industry Day, an initiative of the industrywide coalition Meetings Mean Business is celebrated annually on April 12 to showcase the undeniable value that Business Events bring to people, businesses and communities.

With more than 120 events held worldwide in 2017, this year’s celebration bears the tagline ‘real results, real impact, all around the world’ and encourages industry partners worldwide to share the positive impacts of Business Events.
