Drag race a platform to promote innovation

MIRI: The National Youth Skills Institute ( IKBN) Miri Racing Team will participat­e in a drag race to be held in conjunctio­n with Sarawak Motorsport Carnival 2018 at MetroCity in Kuching this weekend.

IKBN Miri director Mohd Fauzi Ariffin said IKBN Miri is participat­ing in the race to promote to the community that IKBN Miri is not just a place of skills training, but can be a centre of technology developmen­t especially in the automotive sector.

“This is a great platform for IKBN Miri to bring together, exposing to the world outside, the innovation of teachers and students,” Mohd Fauzi told The Borneo Post when met after officiatin­g at the takeoff ceremony of the institute racing team on Wednesday.

IKBN Miri Racing Team comprises Abdul Rasyeed Idris as team manager and seven students.

“The team is sending three motorcycle­s to compete in two categories: two motorcycle­s will in Pro Street while one in the Pro Drag. This also shows that IKBN Miri is serious about engaging in youth developmen­t in Sarawak in terms of knowledge and skills in the field of automotive developmen­t,” he added.
