Mercedes-Benz Malaysia 1Q sales up 3.2 pct to 3,335 vehicles

KUALA LUMPUR: MercedesBe­nz Malaysia’s ( MBM) sales for the first quarter of 2018 (1Q18) rose by 3.2 per cent growth to 3,335 vehicles compared with the same quarter last year (1Q17).

In a statement here yesterday, MBM said January recorded an impressive sales of 1,200 vehicles, a 32 per cent increase compared with January 2017.

“Mercedes-Benz remains the undisputed leading premium brand in Malaysia with a 2.8 per cent market share. This is due to customer- centric strategy emphasisin­g on premium products and superior service,” it said.

The company was committed to invest in customer services and network developmen­t, it said.

For the quarter under review, MBM’s locally-produced limousines and the compact vehicles rose by eight per cent and 37.3 per cent respective­ly compared with the same period last year,

“The Mercedes-Benz sports utility vehicle range also remained a growth driver recording 675 units sold, which translated into a 13.6 per cent jump from the same period last year,” it said.

It said complement­ing the Mercedes-Benz end-to-end experience, Mercedes-Benz Services Malaysia continued to offer financial peace of mind through its customisab­le financial and insurance solutions, resulting a servicing portfolio of over RM2.4 billion.

It said globally, Mercedes-Benz achieved its best ever quarter at 594,304 units (+ six per cent) sold with the best month of all time in March 2018 at 237,307 units (+ 3.9 percent) sold compared with 2017.

President/chief executive officer, Dr Claus Weidner, said MBM’s long-term strategy of bringing customers close and keeping them at the centre of the company’s activities continued to deliver results. — Bernama
