Swan City Snooker C’ship resumes on May 1
SIBU: The 4th leg of the Swan City Cup Snooker Championships will begin at Sibu Executive 3 Snooker Centre here on May 1.
Sibu Swan City Recreation Club chairman Mark Yeo, who is the competition organiser, is expecting an overwhelming response for the two- week event.
In the 1st leg which was also held Executive 3, Sibu’s Isda Lau won the title after edging Sarawak Closed champion Ng Hong Man 3-2 in the five-match thriller.
Ng, however, bounced back to win both the 2nd and 3rd legs at Centre Point Snooker Centre and Southern Point Snooker Centre respectively.
He is eyeing to win his 3rd consecutive title.
Prize money is RM1,000 (champion), RM500 (runnerup), RM250 (semi-finalists) and RM100 (quarter-finalists).
An additional carrot of RM300 is dangled for players who achieve the highest break with a minimum 50 points per cue.
The tournament will be played on a single knock- out basis.
Participating players are awarded ranking points.
“With the ranking, the players know where they stand and, in the event we have bigger tournaments, we know who to pick to represent us,” Yeo explained.
Femme, a company dealing with cosmetics and facial business, is the main sponsor of the competition.
The 5th and final leg of the tournament will be held at Cueball Centre in July.
