Swak’s Strongwoman to try deadlift a car

KUCHING: Local strongwoman Husnul Khatimah Wajidi will make an attempt to deadlift a car at The Sarawak Plaza here on Sunday (April 15).

The specially organised event aims to raise awareness of the sport and to raise funds for her to compete in the 2018 Static Monster ( SM) World Championships in Gold Coast, Australia on May 20.

The enterprising 39-year- old single mother of one has been competing in local and national fitness and powerlifting events since 2015.

Last year, she came across the Static Monster series of events promoted around the world for the first time ( http://www. staticmonsters. com/world- loganddeadlift- championships/).

The finals have been held in Gold Coast, Australia since the inaugural series in 2015.

This year’s 1st Static Monsters World Championships aims to be a truly global event as organisers are inviting the best international lifters who qualify by first competing in SM events held around the world.

Kuching-born Husnul won two titles - best axle deadlift and best log press - at the SM- sanctioned event held at Petaling Jaya in October 2017.

The Sarawak Extreme Sports Association (Sesa) have received a formal invitation by the SM organisers for Husnul to compete in Gold Coast next month.

Only the top 10 for each bodyweight category are invited.

She is the only Malaysian strongwoman invited to compete in this world championships.

“It is an opportunity for me to get ranked among the top athletes worldwide which has always been my dream and I am truly grateful that Sarawak Plaza has offered to host this crowdfunding event,” Husnul said.

Members of the public and local sports fans are invited to watch Sarawak’s very own Strongwoman attempt to deadlift a car at 2pm this Sunday at Sarawak Plaza here.
