GE14: UPP Pujut shares Barisan Nasional’s mission of reclaiming Miri from opposition
MIRI: The Pujut branch of United People’s Party ( UPP) has pledged that it would assist and enhance the Barisan Nasional ( BN) machinery in view of the upcoming parliamentary election.
In this regard, UPP Pujut chairman Bruce Chai points out that the BN-friendly party shares the common goal with BN – to wrest back Miri seat from the opposition.
“Our main focus now is on the upcoming polls. Apart from attending to community issues through UPP Pujut’s Mobile Action Team ( MAT) programme, we will also take the opportunity to enhance the people’s understanding on the BN manifesto for GE14 (14th general election) both at federal and state level,” he told reporters during the UPP Pujut’s MAT programme at Café 59 in Permyjaya Commercial Centre here yesterday.
Chai said seizing back the Miri seat was a vital move to make sure that the voices of Mirians could ‘be heard loudly’ at federal level.
“We need a BN representative for Miri, so that we would be able to see greater future development for this area.
“Most importantly, we look forward to seeing more localised effects – the BN manifesto for GE14 touches on many good things for the next five-year planning in Sarawak.”
In this regard, Chai said it would be crucial for Sarawakians to stay united so the state BN would be able to continue with its mission to regain the state’s rights as enshrined under Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), including the devolution of power.
Themed ‘Transforming Sarawak Through Digital Economy’, the BN Sarawak manifesto launched by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg on April 9, was aimed at complementing the national BN manifesto launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on April 7.
