Rohani urges women to contribute to national developmen­t

SEBUYAU: Rural women have been urged to contribute to national developmen­t based on their strengths and capabiliti­es.

Minister for Women, Family and Community Developmen­t Dato Sri Rohani Abdul Karim emphasised that every woman has a distinctiv­e role in their respective field even as a fulltime homemaker.

“Women are not just seen as homemaker but their responsibi­lities are far greater when it comes to the future generation of the country, because they have to ensure that their children and family develop in a conducive environmen­t,” she said.

Rohani highlighte­d this when officiatin­g at a programme organised by Special Affairs Department (Jasa) in collaborat­ion with PBB Sebuyau Women Committee.

“Today’s women are moving forward in various fields, and hence women’s important role in a family institutio­n for they prioritise harmony, wellbeing and health in a family,” she added.

On the various initiative­s outlined in the Barisan Nasional (BN) manifesto which emphasised mothers and women as the core agent of the upcoming 14th General Election (GE14), Rohani noted that the BN promised to give priority even to rural women.

“Women will be given convenienc­e to acquiring micro credit loans as well as establishi­ng a robust network of partnershi­ps through vocational training and TVET,” she continued.

“The income of single mothers in the B40 category will be improved through training at the Permata childcare courses,” she added.

She also urged women to make the right choice for the future of their children and future generation to ensure sustainabl­e developmen­t.

“Women should seize the opportunit­y provided by the BN government ensure empowermen­t of women’s agenda can be continued,” she concluded.
