Rohani urges women to contribute to national development
SEBUYAU: Rural women have been urged to contribute to national development based on their strengths and capabilities.
Minister for Women, Family and Community Development Dato Sri Rohani Abdul Karim emphasised that every woman has a distinctive role in their respective field even as a fulltime homemaker.
“Women are not just seen as homemaker but their responsibilities are far greater when it comes to the future generation of the country, because they have to ensure that their children and family develop in a conducive environment,” she said.

Rohani highlighted this when officiating at a programme organised by Special Affairs Department (Jasa) in collaboration with PBB Sebuyau Women Committee.
“Today’s women are moving forward in various fields, and hence women’s important role in a family institution for they prioritise harmony, wellbeing and health in a family,” she added.
On the various initiatives outlined in the Barisan Nasional (BN) manifesto which emphasised mothers and women as the core agent of the upcoming 14th General Election (GE14), Rohani noted that the BN promised to give priority even to rural women.
“Women will be given convenience to acquiring micro credit loans as well as establishing a robust network of partnerships through vocational training and TVET,” she continued.
“The income of single mothers in the B40 category will be improved through training at the Permata childcare courses,” she added.
She also urged women to make the right choice for the future of their children and future generation to ensure sustainable development.
“Women should seize the opportunity provided by the BN government ensure empowerment of women’s agenda can be continued,” she concluded.
