-

SIBU: Five new Community Development Department (Kemas) kindergartens will be set up in Nangka state constituency this year.

Assistant Minister for Education and Technological Research Dr Annuar Rapaee said RM1.35 million from his Rural Transformation Programme ( RTP) for this year has been set aside for these.

“The public knows that Kemas operates most of its kindergartens in rented places but I have implemented many of these kindergartens in many of the longhouses (in Nangka area) like Rh Asing, Rh Eddy Jemat and Rumah Philip among others,” he said.

Dr Annuar, who is also Assistant Minister of Housing and Public Health, was speaking when officiating at the close of Kemas4U Carnival Sibu Division in Star Mega Mall here on Sunday.

Also in attendance were Dayang Monalizawati Abg Ismail who represented state Kemas director, Diana Toh Kah Yien who represented Sibu Resident, and Zulkarnain Ismail who represented Sibu District Officer.

On politics, Dr Annuar said many people expect BN to win P212 Sibu this 14th General Election.

“It would be great for us in Sibu if BN win this seat as we would no longer be under the opposition.

“Sibu had missed much development under the opposition because there was no federal government allocations,” he said.

Sibu parliamentary constituency comprises Nangka, Pelawan and Bawang Assan state constituencies.
