SUPP acquires nomination forms for Lanang and Sibu seats
SIBU: Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Sibu purchased six sets of nomination forms for the 14th general election at the Sibu Municipal Council ( SMC) office here yesterday.
SUPP deputy president II Chieng Buong Toon obtained the forms from the Returning Officer for Lanang, Jong Thian Puk, in the presence of SMC senior assistant secretary Yong Ing Chu.
Accompanying him were Kelvin Kong, Joseph Chieng, Wong Ching Yong and Robert Lau Hui Yew.
Buong Toon, who is also SUPP Bukit Assek branch chairman, said three of the forms are for the Lanang parliamentary seat while the other three are for the Sibu seat.
He added that Barisan Nasional ( BN) victories in both seats would augur well for the development of Sibu town.
On the allocation of seats, Buong Toon said the matter is for the BN top leadership to decide, while stressing the importance for Sarawakians to remain united in the election in order to regain the state’s lost rights.
“This is a crucial time for all Sarawakians. This election is not a battle between Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad or our Prime Minister ( Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak). This is the election for the people of Sarawak.
“If we can win 31 seats, we will get back more rights and we will have stronger and louder voice in the federal government.”
Meanwhile, Jong said a total of 13 sets of nomination forms have been purchased as of yesterday, including the six sets by Buong Toon.
