Dayak Students Education Award seeks high-achievers from Miri

MIRI: The Dayak Students Education Award, organised by the Miri Division Gawai Dayak Committee, is inviting applicatio­ns from Dayak students from Miri District schools, who excelled in their Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah ( UPSR), Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM), and Sijil Tinggi Persekolah­an Malaysia (STPM).

Awards will be presented during the Miri Division Gawai Dayak Dinner 2018 on May 19, which will be hosted by the Dayak Bidayuh National Associatio­n ( DBNA) Miri.

“The students must be of Dayak parentage, where at least one of the parents is a Dayak. To be eligible for the award, they must score a minimum of 5As in their UPSR, 8A’s in their SPM, or a 3.3 CGPA (cumulative grade point average) in their STPM,” said committee publicity coordinato­r Caroline Siburat.

The closing date to apply is today (April 24).

Meanwhile, the highlight of the grand dinner will be the Miri Division Dayung Sangon, Kumang Iban, Keligit Orang Ulu, and Keling/Belawan Gawai 2018 contest.

Tickets priced at RM600 and RM800 per table of 10 are now on sale.
