KUCHING: The largest health, beauty and personal care chain in Malaysia – Guardian Malaysia – has set their sights on the Sarawakian market as their next focus of expansion.

Embarking on an aggressive expansion plan, Guardian Malaysia has launched three of its new concepts stores in Kuching within the last week, and prior to that, the group has also welcomed two new concepts stores in Sibu at the end of March.

The three new stores in Kuching are located at tHe Spring shopping mall which opened on April 16, the commercial centre of Saradise on April 19, and the newly-opened AEON Kuching Central on April 20.

Meanwhile, the two stores in Sibu which opened last month are in Wisma Sanyan and Star Megamall.

Soren Lauridsen, the chief executive officer of Guardian Malaysia, said in statement: “We are very pleased to have unveiled three major stores, all within a week, in the capital city of Sarawak, to serve the growing demand of consumers, both local and from overseas.

“We see good potential for our business as we believe our policy of offering customers the best value for the money in the form of the lowest price is getting very strong response from the Malaysians all over the country.

“These developments from Guardian Malaysia demonstrate the commitment the company has given in supporting the country’s economy, and providing job opportunities for the state as well.”

The three stores which range in size from 1,500 to 2,600 sq ft offer a different ambience from the traditional guardian stores seen around Sarawak.

The new stores are brightly illuminated with a sleeker and more spacious design, and carry a wider range of products that aims to cater more to the needs of millennials.

The new product ranges that will be seen in these new stores are several cosmetic brands such as Kiss Me Ferme, D-Up, K-Palette, Canmake from Japan; Palaldio from the US; Rimmel from the UK; April Skin from Korea; and our very own homegrown Sugarbelle – founded by Malaysian boutique owner Belle Yahya.

The new concept stores also features lots of mirrors to try out the latest makeup offerings; beauty tool bar which showcases latest assortment of beauty tools from Korea for all makeup users including professionals: full-time pharmacist services at Aeon Kuching Sentral for basic health checkup, consultation, healthcare services on blood pressure monitoring, weight management and smoking cessation.

Besides that, Sahrulzaman Ab Rahim, operations manager at Guardian Malaysia also adds that the new concept stores will also feature a special section called ‘Derma Skin’.

Stocked with dermatologically approved or natural shower and skincare products from famous brands like Cetaphilem, Eucerine, Sukin and Avene, the section promises to provide and easy alternative and solution for customers with sensitive or easily irritated skin.

Looking forward, Sahrulzaman guided that Guardian Malaysia will be continuing on with their expansion in Sarawak but before that, they will now be focusing revamping majority of their existing stores around the state into new concept stores.

In conjunction with the opening of these three new stores, there are also promotion giveaways such as an ‘early bird coupon giveaway’ where early customers will be given RM5 generic coupons for any amount of purchase (applicable to the first 200 customers).

Then there is an irresistible bargain at buying a Guardian umbrella for just RM 1 with a minimum RM80 purchase.

However this is limited to the first 200 customers to the stores, whilst stock lasts.
