Fadillah thanks BN for nominating him as candidate for GE14
KUCHING: The incumbent for Petra Jaya Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof is grateful for the Barisan Nasional’s ( BN) decision to nominate him as a candidate in the 14th general election (GE14).
He thanked national BN chairman and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak as well as state BN chairman and Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg for putting their faith and trust in him to defend Petra Jaya.
“Defending Petra Jaya is an obligation which I need to shoulder well. I pledge to give my very best in order to honour the faith and trust they have in me,” he said in a statement issued after Abang Johari announced the list of BN candidates for the 31 parliamentary constituencies in Sarawak yesterday.
Fadillah, who is Works Minister of the caretaker government, hoped that constituents who gave their votes to him in the 2013 general election will continue to support him come May 9.
“Together, we can pursue the development agenda for the Petra Jaya parliamentary constituency for another five years.”
He said he is committed to bringing about more physical development including better job opportunities and more affordable homes to the people of Petra Jaya.
To the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu ( PBB) incumbents who were not named as candidates this time, Fadillah extended his appreciation to them for their contributions in the last five years.
He thanked them for placing unity and the spirit of BN above all by willingly stepping down to give way to new and young candidates.
The six PBB incumbents who are not running for this election are Datuk Seri Dr James Dawos Mamit ( Mambong, which has been renamed Puncak Borneo), Datuk Amar Dougas Uggah Embas ( Betong), Datuk Norah Tun Rahman ( Tanjong Manis), Datuk Wahab Dolah ( Igan), Tan Sri Dr Muhammad Leo Michael Toyad (Mukah) and Datuk Ahmad Lai Bujang (Sibuti).
Uggah, who was nominated to defend Bukit Saban for BNPBB in the 2016 state election, is now Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Modernisation of Agriculture, Native Land and Regional Development.
