Sebastian Ting may have 50-50 chance of winning in Miri — Fong

-

MIRI: The BN candidate for Miri Datuk Sebastian Ting who is also SUPP secretary general and Piasau assemblyman may have a 50- 50 chance of winning against the incumbent Dr Michael Teo if he were renominated by his party.

Saying this was former Pujut assemblyman Fong Pau Teck who felt that while the voice of the opposition is very strong, the popularity and positive attitude showed by Ting could garner a lot of support and votes.

Despite his defeat to Dr Teo in the 13th general election, Ting has not given up. He shows his sincerity by putting in extra hard work, and going to the ground to meet the people. Such is Ting’s way to win over the people.

“I am, for one, sincerely giving him the credit for not giving up,” said Fong when met yesterday.

Fong also said many people are voicing out their dislike of Dr Teo, but there are also many others who still support him.

“He may be criticized as a little weak compared to other PH candidates, but Dr Teo is willing to be renominated to defend the seat. This shows he is sincere in serving the people.”

Expressing his dissatisfaction over the tactics used by ‘certain people’ to influence the voters’ confidence in Dr Teo, Fong reminded them that he too was a former member of an opposition party, and he knew what they had under their sleeves.

“If PH still wants Dr Teo to defend Miri seat, it means he is a trusted fellow due to his capability and credibility.”

Though Fong will not stand as an independent candidate in this election, he said he would be campaigning for Parti Bumi Kenyalang ( PBK) in Sarikei.

“PBK is a new party, but our main objective is to serve Sarawakians by Sarawakians. It is a party with its own direction, objectives and mission.
