KUCHING: The Movement of Change ( MoC) has called on Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg and the state Immigration Department not to bar bona fide opposition leaders from Pakatan Harapan ( PH) from entering the state.

Its leader Francis Siah said the Immigration Department must not be abused by the Chief Minister’s Office with action taken along party lines.

He cited a recent example of such abuse when Amanah president Mohamad Sabu was denied entry 10 days ago, while PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang was allowed entry on Sunday.

Siah, at a press conference yesterday, said MoC agreed that extremists and religious bigots must be barred from entering Sarawak, but not elected representatives from the opposition.

He said all citizens should be empowered with information from both political divides, now that the general election is near.

Siah said there was already evidence of dirty politics being played around such as the abrupt re- delineation of the electoral boundaries.

Siah also reminded politicians from both political divides that their fi ght in the GE14 should be centred on the needs and benefit of the state and its people, adding that MoC supported the genuine efforts to unite the people of Sarawak, like the ‘ Sarawak for Sarawakians’ slogan.

“All politicians in the state should have an objective in the GE14, that our beloved homeland is paramount and that amidst the ugliness of a fierce electoral battle, Sarawak and her people stand above all other personal or political interest,” Siah said.
