New BN pick for Sibuti has what it takes to become MP — Ahmad Lai

-

MIRI: It was a bit of an emotional moment for members of the welcoming committee upon seeing the arrival of Datuk Ahmad Lai Bujang at the airport here from Kuching yesterday.

The committee included some 30 Barisan Nasional (BN) supporters, as well as officials from Miri City Council ( MCC).

Ahmad Lai was on the same fl ight with Piasau assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting, who is the BN pick for Miri in the coming parliamentary election.

Ahmad Lai had on Monday announced that he would not be contesting in Sibuti – the constituency where he was the MP for two terms.

For this election, BN had chosen Lukanisman Awang Sauni as its candidate for Sibuti.

In his comment, Ahmad Lai expressed his confidence inLukanisman being able continue to achieve ‘another beautiful record for Sibuti’.

“With his 10-year experience as Special Affairs Department (Jasa)’s officer, Lukanisman possesses the credibility – he is also very close with the people in Sibuti.

“He has been there, assisting me with the administration works in Sibuti. Lukanisman is very clear on the roles of an MP. The most important thing is that he is not somebody new to the folk in Sibuti.”

In this regard, Ahmad Lai called upon all Sibuti constituents to give their full support to the new candidate.
