Embrace changes meant to benefit community, womenfolk advised
MARUDI: The roles played by women, especially those at grassroots level, are undeniably crucial to state development.
In stating this, Assistant Minister of Local Government Datu Dr Penguang Manggil stresses that the womenfolk are not only instrumental in ensuring smooth progress for the areas that they are in, but also in encouraging their communities to embrace positive changes.
“Whether at home or at the workplace, today’s women contribute just as significantly as men. You must be ever ready to accept changes meant to benefit the community.
“In this regard, I also hope the local folk would appreciate the development that has been and are being implemented in Marudi, under the Barisan Nasional ( BN)-led government,” he spoke at the opening of the ‘ Program Pemerkasaan Tujang Perpaduan’ at Baram Civic Centre yesterday – hosted by Baram Vision Women Club, with support from Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu ( PBB) Women branches of Telang Usan, Marudi and Mulu, Progressive Democratic Party ( PDP) Telang Usan, Sarawak United People’s Party ( SUPP) Marudi and Parti Rakyat Sarawak ( PRS) Baram.
Adding on Penguang, who is Marudi assemblyman, expressed his delight in seeing many women – the majority of whom are mothers – attending a seminar run in conjunction with the event.
In addition, Penguang also reconfirmed the fielding of Anyi Ngau by BN for Baram seat in the coming parliamentary election.
“This dispels all rumours about him (Anyi) being dropped as the candidate for Baram,” he said.
Political secretaries to chief minister Petrus Igat Mathias, Charles Balan Seling and Faridah Osman were also present.
