State BN Youth machinery all geared up for May 9 polls
SIBU: The entire Barisan Nasional ( BN) Youth machinery in the state is all-ready for the May 9 parliamentary election, says Layar assemblyman Gerald Rentap Jabu.
In this regard, he assures BN Sarawak that the Youth wing would go all out in helping the parent body gain victory during the polls.
“In fact, I’ve just returned from Pakan – the entire BN Youth machinery is all ready to defend Julau seat,” he told reporters after officiating at the opening of ‘Malam Mesra Wanita PBB N. 53 Bawang Assan’ in Li Hua Hotel here recently.
Rentap, who is Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Youth chief, called upon the younger generation to give their full support to BN.
“Please don’t gamble away your future as only BN can give you hope.’
On the opposition strongholds of Sibu and Lanang, Rentap expressed his confidence of BN being able to reclaim these seats by doubling its efforts.
“Of course we can – why not? But we have to work very hard; that is why I am here,” he said, believing that youth voters would play a key role in helping BN win the election.
Citing the BN Youth Manifesto for the 14th general election ( GE14) entitled ‘Jaminan Orang Muda’ ( The Youth Guarantee) launched by BN Youth chairman Khairy Jamaluddin, as well as the National Transformation 2050 ( TN50), Rentap said these two agenda represented the aspirations of the youths.
Adding on, he said Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg’s digital economy vision applied to the younger generation, giving them the opportunity to make money on their own.
Separately, Rentap expressed his hope of seeing some new faces from BN in the polls.
“This is part of PBB’s leadership continuity. I leave it to the wisdom of the Prime Minister and Chief Minister to do that.”
Earlier in his speech, Rentap also stressed the importance for PBB Women ‘ to have a bigger voice’, apart from encouraging them to be prepared for digital economy.
Meanwhile, Bawang Assan PBB Women chief Susana Panyau said the objective of the dinner event was to foster closer rapport among members of the seven PBB sub- branches – namely those in Rassau, Penasu, Passai, Bukit Besai, Bawang Assan, Sungai Bidut and Bungan.
Political secretary to chief minister Romeo Christopher Tegong, who is also PBB Bawang Assan chairman, was also present.
