‘BR1M amount increased to address high cost of living’

-

SIBU: The Barisan Nasional ( BN) government has increased the amount of 1Malaysia People’s Aid ( BR1M) to address the higher cost of living, according to Assistant Minister for Education and Technological Research Dr Annuar Rapaee.

He said the opposition, on the other hand, only dreams about wanting to implement it by including it in its election manifesto.

“Previously, the opposition had heavily criticized the government for giving out BR1M,” recalled Dr Annuar, who is also Assistant Minister of Housing and Public Health.

He said the opposition had even labeled BR1M as a bribe.

“Now, in their manifesto this time around, the opposition has included BR1M, showing that the opposition also agrees that BR1M is important to the people to cushion the higher cost of living,” he reiterated.

The Nangka assemblyman said this when officiating at the close of Kemas4U Carnival Sibu Division in Star Mega Mall here recently.

Meanwhile, he said the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Research had been allocated RM1 billion to carry out repairs on dilapidated schools in the state within two years.

“This is not a manifesto but the promise that has been fulfilled since February this year,” he said.
