MATRADE China unit director Ong Yew Chee said participation in the expo, to be held in Nanning, China on Sept 12-15, was the agency’s effort to provide continuity on product marketing particularly those produced by the small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

Hesaidsome179localcompanies would participate in the expo and they would have the opportunity to market their products online through the cooperation between MATRADE and China Post Group last year.

“Through e-trade, MATRADE w i l l always encourage entrepreneurs to market their products via China Post, in fact, through Alibaba (Group), they can also claim RM5,000 to market their products and register their memberships,” he said.

China Post is a state- owned enterprise operating the official postal service of China while Alibaba is a Chinese multinational e- commerce, retai l, Internet, arti f icial intelligence and technology conglomerate.

“Bumiputera entrepreneurs should grab this opportunity to market their products not only during the expo but also after the event,” he told a press conference after the launch of a roadshow to promote Caexpo 2018 here today.

Ong said MATRADE was also optimistic about the expo and had targeted sales of RM450 million in this year’s edition.

Malaysia would focus on sales of wide-ranging products and services including lifestyle, food and beverage (F&B), healthcare and franchise, he added. — Bernama
