Sad day if no Chinese rep in cabinet, govt — Najib

-

KUALA LUMPUR: “It will be a sad day if there is a small or no Chinese representation in the cabinet or government”.

This was Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s message to the Chinese voters if they reject Barisan Nasional’s ( BN) candidates especially from Chinese representatives in the 14th General Election (GE14).

The Prime Minister said if BN’s Chinese candidates were rejected and the people voted for someone else, then BN would not be able to appoint Chinese leaders into the Cabinet.

“We need a strong Chinese representation in the government, because if we eliminate Chinese leaders, it will weaken their representation in the government,” the BN chairman told a special press conference here yesterday, ahead of Nomination Day yesterday.

Najib said, however, if BN manages to get the majority of its representatives into Parliament to form the government, he would choose representatives from the Chinese community.

He advised Chinese voters not to make the same mistake like what happened in the last general election.

“This time around, better go with BN. Look at the stability, growing economy, more business opportunities, more financial assistance and micro credit with BN.

“The other side? I don’t think we can see that, I don’t think they can deliver the same thing,” he added. — Bernama
