Boulevard Mall Miri, The Cake Maker co-host cake-deco challenge

MIRI: The Boulevard Shopping Mall here and The Cake Maker will co-host a ‘Parent’s Day’ cakedecora­ting competitio­n this May 19.

According to the organising spokespers­on, the event is open to all and each participat­ing team must have two members.

“The members must consist of one parent and one child – they can either be father- son, fatherdaug­hter, mother- son or motherdaug­hter teams.

“Age requiremen­t for the children is five years old and above. Registrati­on fee is RM10 per team.

“As participat­ion is limited to only 20 teams, entries would be on fi rst- come, fi rst-serve basis,” said the spokespers­on.

Forms, which can be obtained from the mall’s informatio­n counter on the ground floor, must be fi lled and submitted — together with the entry fee — back to the counter before May 11.

“Participan­ts are required to bring their own decorating items and utensils. However for the competitio­n, each team will be given a basic sponge cake to be decorated, measuring seven inches in diameter and 4.5 inches in height.

“All participan­ts will have an hour to create their masterpiec­es,” said the spokespers­on, adding that the criteria for judging include skills, creativity, tidiness and also parent- child interactio­n.

The winning team will walk away with RM300, while the fi rst and second runners-up will pocket RM200 and RM100, respective­ly.

Teams placing fourth to eighth will each receive a consolatio­n prize of RM50.

All teams will get certificat­es.
