Boulevard Mall Miri, The Cake Maker co-host cake-deco challenge

MIRI: The Boulevard Shopping Mall here and The Cake Maker will co-host a ‘Parent’s Day’ cakedecorating competition this May 19.

According to the organising spokesperson, the event is open to all and each participating team must have two members.

“The members must consist of one parent and one child – they can either be father- son, fatherdaughter, mother- son or motherdaughter teams.

“Age requirement for the children is five years old and above. Registration fee is RM10 per team.

“As participation is limited to only 20 teams, entries would be on fi rst- come, fi rst-serve basis,” said the spokesperson.

Forms, which can be obtained from the mall’s information counter on the ground floor, must be fi lled and submitted — together with the entry fee — back to the counter before May 11.

“Participants are required to bring their own decorating items and utensils. However for the competition, each team will be given a basic sponge cake to be decorated, measuring seven inches in diameter and 4.5 inches in height.

“All participants will have an hour to create their masterpieces,” said the spokesperson, adding that the criteria for judging include skills, creativity, tidiness and also parent- child interaction.

The winning team will walk away with RM300, while the fi rst and second runners-up will pocket RM200 and RM100, respectively.

Teams placing fourth to eighth will each receive a consolation prize of RM50.

All teams will get certificates.
