BAU: A big win by the state Barisan Nasional ( BN) in this parliamentary election will give Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg a bigger mandate to negotiate with Putrajaya.

Education, Science and Technological Research Minister Dato Sri Michael Manyin Jawong points out that this is the first time Abang Johari is leading Sarawak BN in an election since becoming Chief Minister on Jan 13 last year.

In this regard, he calls upon Sarawakians to give Abang Johari a big boost in his struggle towards returning the rights under Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) to Sarawak.

“It has been predicted that Sarawak BN could win at least 28 out of the 31 parliamentary seats in the polls.

Manyin, who is also BN director of operations in Puncak Borneo, was there to campaign for the BN candidate for the constituency, Jeannoth Sinel.

Serembu assemblyman Miro Simuh, political secretary to chief minister John David Nyauh and former Sarawak United People’s Party ( SUPP) Women chief Datin Jennifer William Chee were also present.

Adding on, Manyin also called upon the Bidayuhs to ensure that BN would retain all three predominantly-Bidayuh constituencies – Mas Gading, Puncak Borneo and Serian – this time.

He said the candidates for these seats – Jeannoth, Datuk Anthony Nogeh Gumbek ( Mas Gading), and Datuk Seri Richard Riot ( Serian) – are Bidayuhs representing the BN coalition.

“Come polling day on May 9, vote for these three candidates. We must make sure that these three seats are among those won by BN on that day,” Manyin pointed out.
