Pre-election Internet survey violates teachers’ rights — DAP man

-

SIBU: The Democratic Action Party ( DAP) candidate for Sibu parliamentary constituency believes that it is a violation of the teachers’ rights pertaining to the Education Ministry’s directive for them to fill in an Internet survey form matters related to the 14th general election (GE14).

According to Oscar Ling, this could be seen as a way to identify the tendency of the teachers as far as voting and elections go.

“This is equivalent to threatening the teachers – it violates their very right to vote,” he said during a press conference yesterday.

Ling said he had come across such Internet survey forms and felt that it was rather ‘suspicious’ for the ministry to run the survey just before the polls.

A quick check by The Borneo Post with some teachers confi rmed that the survey was not compulsory. Teachers could choose not to take the survey.

Meanwhile, Ling called upon all voters to vote wisely, he said every vote counts, especially at this very crucial general election at saving the nation.

He also reminded them to check their polling stations before going to vote this May 9.

“Some voters may fi nd their names transferred to other polling stations without their knowledge,” he said, advising the people to go to https://pengundi.spr.gov.my to check their voting status.
