Ting asks voters to base their choice on what he has done

-

MIRI: BN candidate for Miri Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew believes that the reputation of a candidate is not built overnight.

Thus, voters should not make their choice based on what they hear and see during the short campaigning period but look at what he, as a state assemblyman, has been doing for them, he advised.

“Over a period of time, people will see what the representative is doing for them. They can see, they can hear and they know who they like to cast their vote for.

“In terms of strategy, people have made clear what they want and the representative should always be there when they are needed,” he said at a press conference here yesterday.

On rumours that voters thought he is a likeable candidate but in the wrong side of politics, Ting said his intention is very clear and simple.

“I always feel that Sarawak is different. When I am at a foreign land, I will identify myself as Malaysian and when I’m at any place within Malaysia, I am Sarawakian. Sarawak people are different, we live in a harmonious society. Though people have been talking about saving the nation, I, on the other hand, firmly say that I want to save Sarawak. I can only speak for Sarawak,” he said.

Meanwhile, BN operations director for Miri Datuk Lee Kim Shin said their team was always on the ground, reaching out to the people.

“Election or no election, we will consistently be on the ground reaching out to people, especially when they come to us seeking for help. Certainly, we will defi nitely go the extra mile to help them,” said Lee.
