Voon: Ting has no ‘good answers’ to not debate with Dr Teo

-

MIRI: Party Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) national women vice chief Voon Shiak Ni claims that BN candidate for Miri, Datuk Sebastian Ting, has no ‘good answers’ to give for the debate requested by the incumbent Dr Michael Teo.

Saying ‘no time’ for the debate is a mere excuse.

“Is it really no time or is it an issue of no good answers to the questions on 1MDB, and how to reduce the cost of living without cancelling GST,” she said.

Speaking at a press conference in PKR Miri office here yesterday, Voon said Sarawak United People’s Party’s (SUPP) slogan of ‘Stronger Sarawak’ has no clear meaning.

“What is the meaning of ‘stronger Sarawak’. Is it stronger in terms of parliamentary constituencies or what? If it is stronger in terms of constituencies they already have 80 per cent since GE13, so they are already very strong.

“Or, does it mean that SUPP MPs will be going into parliament now stronger; they are willing to oppose the unfair laws?” she asked.

Dr Teo, who was also present, urged all PKR supporters to come back from whereever they are to vote, to ensure victory for PKR in Miri.

“We have done everything. We have a team of 60 people and I have never had so many supporters (to help with the campaign).

“Of the many elections I have taken part in, this is the most active and busy one. Our headquarters is also very supportive, even financially,” he said.

He, however, said he could not predict the outcome of this election. All that they could do is to continuously work hard to ensure a good result.

“I have been working very hard. I have asked everyone not to be confident, but to also work hard to achieve a good result. We are doing our best and I hope our voters do their best too,” he said.
