PH only riding on what BN has started, says Pelagus rep

KOTA SAMARAHAN: The Pakatan Harapan ( PH) is only riding on what Barisan Nasional ( BN) has done for development, particularly those in the states of Penang and Selangor.

In stating this, Pelagus assemblyman Wilson Nyabong Ijang views BN politics as ‘going out to make things better, while PH is still on their ‘Aku Janji’ ( pledge-making) trail.

“Pakatan Harapan is only riding on the BN’s success in Selangor and Penang – it was the BN-led government that started it (development) all there,” he spoke at the start of a karaokesinging competition in Rumah Pansuh Dayak (RPD) – a popular food centre in Kota Samarahan recently.

Nyabong also reminded all to not fall for the opposition’s ‘sweet promises and twisted logic’.

Meanwhile the assemblyman defended the action taken by Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Masing, who is also Parti Rakyat Sarawak ( PRS) president, in sacking five of the party’s supreme council members said to have gone against the party’s decision on the selection of candidates for the coming parliamentary election.

Former PRS deputy president Datuk Joseph Entulu, Datuk William Nyallau Badak who was the incumbent Lubok Antu MP, Edward Kurik, Nyempah Sabot and Adriana Chumang, were reportedly sacked for disobeying the party over its candidacy list, as well as for ridiculing and putting the party into disrepute.

The expulsion was announced just hours before the BN Sarawak unveiled its list of 31 candidates for the polls.

According to Nyabong, PRS did not flout any part of its constitution and regulations when it set up the special committee to deal with the situation.

“The president ( Masing) needed to ensure that the party’s survival would remain intact; hence, the urgency to seek solution. His action was justified, even at the 11th hour,” he said.

Corporate legal advisor Rita Sarimah Insol and former Sabah prosecuting director Robert Pasang Alam are representing BN-PRS to contest in Selangau and Lubok Antu respectively, in the coming parliamentary election.

Rita faces seasoned Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) politician Baru Bian, while Robert will encounter a three- cornered fight with PKR’s Nicholas Bawin Anggat and Independent candidate Jugah Muyang, who is a former PRS member.
