37 Sarikei community leaders receive appointmen­t letters

SARIKEI: Sarikei Resident Mohamad Junaidi Mohidin presented appointmen­t letters to 37 community leaders here yesterday.

The newly- appointed kapitans were Ling Sien Chuong, Ambrose Siaw Meng Heng, Fung Chong Hua, and Huang Chee Chieng; while Liong Siew Hang, Lim Boon Huat, Leong Pai Hua, Wong Siong Chew, Chew Kok Mow, Wong Yiik Siew, Wong Yuk Sit, Lu Pak Yew, Lau Ing Soon, Wong Sie Chiew, and Hoo Siik Ngo received reappointm­ent letters as kapitans.

Allin Ujang was the sole new tuai rumah, while those reappointe­d to the position were Rabeling Gendun, John Assan, Adeline Ligi, Guang Jalik, Naning Undong, Embas Jantai, Mawa Anding, Chuo Bujang, Lingga Ujang, Taka Jabu, Entagau Kasi, Awan Chandaang, Setia Ugok, Anggat Libau, Bajut Pak, Sabah Saong, Ibik Aji, Bansa Nanggal, Jawi Singki, Tapoi Asak, and Ribong Ikau.

Repok assemblyma­n Dato Sri Huang Tiong Sii, who was present to witness the ceremony, reminded the community leaders that their appointmen­ts come with a heavy responsibi­lity.

He advised them to work closely with the various government agencies in order to better help the communitie­s they serve.

He added that community leaders are instrument­al in ensuring the successful implementa­tion of planned projects and programmes.

Huang, who is the Barisan Nasional ( BN) candidate for the Sarikei parliament­ary seat, also appealed to the community leaders to support the government.

Among those present were Sarikei District Officer Christophe­r Ranggau, Temenggong Junia Olia, and Temenggong Frederick Wong Kung Kuong.
