Muhyiddin will not undermine Johor BN’s strength — Hisham

-

HULU SELANGOR: PPBM presidentTanSriMuhyiddinYassin is not a factor that can undermine Barisan Nasional’s (BN) strength in Johor, said Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein Onn.

He said he was confident that voters would look at a wider perspective on their choice or candidate and party in the 14th general election (GE14) and would choose the one that could promise a better future for them.

He said history had proven it several times, including that of Umno founder and first president Datuk Onn Jaafar, who failed to get the grassroots support after he left the party in 1951 due to differences in ideology.

“If we are worried about Johor, I won’t be in Hulu Selangor today. In the past, history has shown, even the founder of Umno, when people see the bigger picture, even the founder was put aside. That was what happened to (former deputy prime minister) Tun Musa Hitam. So what makes Tan Sri Muhyiddin so special?” he told reporters during a visit to Taman Bunga Raya here in the Hulu Selangor parliamentary constituency here yesterday.

Muhyiddin, who is Umno deputy president, before being sacked from the party in 2016, is defending the Pagoh parliamentary seat and also contesting the Gambir state seat.

In a related development, Hishammuddin, who is defending the Sembrong parliamentary seat, said the Johor BN did not take lightly the accusations hurled by the oppositions and had intensified it strategy to counter them.

On the BN campaign, he said it was going smoothly with all quarters working as a team.

Earlier in his speech, Hishammuddin said the BN candidates for the Hulu Selangor parliamentary seat and the state seats in the constituency were a dream team that could bring changes for the good of the constituents.

He said efforts should be made to capture the Kuala Kubu Baharu seat from the opposition, as well as defend the Hulu Selangor parliamentary seat and the Batang Kali and Hulu Bernam state seats.
