KOTA KINABALU: KPMG has relocated its Kota Kinabalu office to a new and expanded premise at 3A, Plaza Shell on Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, which the global professional services firm will be operating out of effective yesterday.

In line with the firm’s plan to incorporate a workplace of the future concept, the new office measures approximately 10,000 sq ft and features an open contemporary design complete with hot desking, enhanced connectivity, and state- of- theart meeting rooms.

“This new off ice space represents K PMG ’ s commitment to provide our diverse workforce with the right tools and technology to deliver quality service to our clients.

“We’ve built a reputation for delivering service excellence since 1928, and this is a legacy we’re proud of as KPMG celebrates our 90th anniversary in Malaysia this year,” said Datuk Johan Idris, Managing Partner of KPMG in Malaysia.

The KPMG Kota Kinabalu office was first established in 1970 as Peat Marwick Mitchell & Co at the Great Eastern Life Building in Gaya Street before taking up another office at Nosmal Court in 1983.

In 1985, the firm moved to Wisma Gek Poh where they remained until the move to Plaza Shell, known as the first green building in Sabah and recipient of FIABCI Malaysia Property Award 2017 winner of Office Category.

Lee Hean Kok, KPMG’s Head of East Malaysia Region, added that the relocation is a ref lection of the positive strides taken by KPMG since it began operations in Kota Kinabalu 48 years ago.

“We started our operations in Sabah with only five employees, which today has grown into a team of about 100 professionals serving clients in this state. We want to give our extraordinary people the advantage and opportunity to work happier so they can strive to provide our clients with world class support and experience,” said Lee. — Bernama

“With the state undergoing an economic transformation through the Sabah Structure Plan 2033, our new and modern infrastructure will ensure we have a strong impetus to anticipate and adapt to the growing business needs here.”
