Mirians advised to open eyes, mind in choosing MP
MIRI: Mirians need to ‘open their eyes and mind’ when it comes to deciding who they want to represent them in Parliament.
In making this call, the Barisan Nasional ( BN) candidate for this constituency in the coming election Datuk Sebastian Ting criticises Dr Michael Teo of Parti Keadilan Rakyat ( PKR) for his ignorance and also his ‘absence’ in Parliament during his term as MP.
“In 2013, the people of Miri sent Dr Teo to the Parliment, with the hope that he would be the voice of Miri.
“Three years into the term, however, DAP Sarawak chairman Chong Chieng Jen publicly criticise Dr Teo for his inability.
“At the time, Chong slammed Dr Teo for speaking just for five minutes during the parliamentary sitting,” he told reporters during a press conference at Sarawak United People’s Party ( SUPP) Piasau office yesterday.
In previous interviews and press conferences, Dr Teo had been insisting that he attended the parliamentary sittings, contrary to claims that he did not.
“With Dr Teo giving his own explanation, the question now is – who is actually speaking the truth?” Ting pointed out.
On his candidacy, Ting – also
Piasau assemblyman – stressed that his motto was ‘simple’.
“It is my responsibility to focus on the needs of the people, who have voted for me. Should I fail in my delivery, it means that I have also failed the people and their trust upon me,” he said.
Ting shows a copy of a news report from See Hua Daily News dated on Dec 5, 2015, about Chong criticising DrTeo for the latter’s inability to perform his duties as MP.
