Perimeter survey an ongoing process, landowners assured
KUCHING: The perimeter survey on Native Customary Rights ( NCR) land is a continuous process, aimed at ensuring that the rightful owners would receive the titles.
In pointing this out, Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan says both the state and federal government realise this need.
According to him, some 835,000 hectares of this land in the state have been measured, with the allocation coming from the federal government.
For Sarawak Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority ( Salcra) smallholders, 25,031 land plots have been measured, covering 54,074 hectares across four areas – BauLundu, Serian, Sri Aman and Saratok.
Specifically, 3,542 out of 7071 land plots covering 7,205 hectares under the Salcra Bau- Lundu sector, have been measured and issued with titles.
“Up to April 30, a total of 12,038 land plots under the Salcra programme have been issued with titles, covering 22,822 hectares.
“Another 12,933 land plots totalling 31,252 hectares have been measured, but are still awaiting issuance of titles from the Land and Survey Department,” said Awang Tengah at the presentation of titles to 287 landowners under Salcra programme for Bau-Lundu areas, on Thursday night.
He also assured the landowners that the state government had always been committed to ensuring that their welfare would be taken care of.
In this regard, he said the state Barisan Nasional ( BN) consists of Sarawak-based parties of which the leaders and members know the issues and hardship faced by Sarawakians.
He then slammed the opposition, comprising mostly were peninsula- based parties, which ‘are controlled by leaders who know nothing about Sarawak and what has been going on in the state’.
“Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has been visiting Sarawak frequently – 61 times to be exact – bringing with him various aid totalling RM4.6 billion.
“This is why our voters need to realise and understand the situation – a bigger majority for BN Sarawak would translate to bigger voice in Parliament. We would have a bigger say – isn’t that what Sarawakian have been asking for?”
Awang Tengah added that under Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, the state is moving at a greater pace, focusing on digitalising the way that the people live and also major infrastructure works, both in the urban and rural areas.
The ceremony was witnessed by Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Henry Harry Jinep and the BN candidate for Mas Gading parliamentary constituency Datuk Anthony Nogeh Gumbek.
