DPM advises BN party leaders to avoid conflict

SIK: Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi yesterday advised BN party leaders at all levels to avoid conflict among themselves and give preference to the interests of the people.

The Deputy Prime Minister said the leaders, by remaining united, would be able to address all the problems of the people and bring progress to their areas of administration.

“The people hate to see leaders quarrel. They want to see unity among the leaders. They want development. So, the leaders must work together as best as they can,” he said and cited the example of the BN losing Kedah to the opposition in the past because of disunity and not because the opposition was strong.

Ahmad Zahid, in giving a boost to the BN election campaign in Kedah, addressed a gathering of the people in Sik at Dewan Al Hana here.

Education Minister and Kedah Umno Liaison Committee deputy chairman Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid, BN candidate for the Sik parliamentary seat Dr Mansor Abd Rahman, BN candidate for the Belantek state seat Datuk Mohd Tajuddin Abdullah and BN candidate for the Jeneri state seat Mahadzir Abdul Hamid were also present at the event.

Ahmad Zahid said it was important for the state and the federal governments to be administered by the same party or the people would be left out of the mainstream of development.

He also said that the people should not believe all kinds of fake news being circulated by irresponsible people on the social media.

“They use various approaches through the social media to create hatred for the government,” he said, adding that the Anti-Fake News Act 2018 would help curb this. — Bernama
