Dr Annuar: Remaining fews days crucial for BN
SIBU: Assistant Minister of Education and Technological Research Dr Annuar Rapaee said the remaining few days will be crucial for Barisan Nasional because campaigning will be fiercer in the final run up to polling day.
He also said it was very important to strategise coordination during polling day, leaving no room for complacency.
On the early voting last Saturday, he was delighted to note of the encouraging turnout.
“We hope that this shows Bumiputera will be going all out to cast their votes.”
To a question of DAP getting their heavy weights such as Lim Kit Siang and Lim Guan Eng to assist in the campaigning here, he said the opposition was just fishing for votes.
Dr Annuar said this also showed that the opposition did not have capable local leaders, needing others to convince the voters in Sarawak.
“It is very sad because they need others to determine their destiny. It appears that they (opposition) are not able to convince the people of Sarawak.
“As Sarawakians, we want Sarawakians first. We want to fight for our rights. I don’t know why they have to bring in Peninsular Malaysians to come here to convince the people of Sarawak,” he told reporters after attending a leader-meet-the-people session at ‘Simpang Tiga’ here yesterday.
The function was organised by PBB sub- branches of Hilir 2, Simpang Tiga and Sungai Pa’ Dris, and was attended by some 500 BN supporters.
The event organising chairman was Mohd Safree Mohd Kassim and among those present was BN Sibu candidate Dato Andrew Wong Kee Yew.
The curtain raiser of the event was a mass aerobic at the open space in Simpang Tiga.
There were also food and drink stalls put up apart from mini games and lucky draws as well as the showcasing of motorcycles.
Twenty participants from Sibu and Bintangor took part in the motorcycle show, which was organised by PBB Youth of Simpang Tiga sub-branch.
