Party organ to face action over abuse of publishing permit

-

The Home Ministry will take action after the 14th General Election. They will not escape action.

BAGAN DATUK: Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi yesterday warned of action against a political party organ for allegedly abusing its members- only publishing permit by selling the newspaper to the public.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister said he was able to get a copy of the newspaper from a vendor and a shop.

“The Home Ministry will take action after the 14th General Election. They will not escape action,” he told a media conference here yesterday.

Ahmad Zahid said the newspaper also often carried slanderous allegations, lies and fake news against the government as well as the Barisan Nasional.

“Thank you for the slanderous allegations.

“Please continue,” he said with sarcasm but did not name the organ.

Ahmad Zahid also said that there was basis to the revelation by Amran Ahmad, an assistant producer of the DAP official online television channel ‘ UbahTV’ yesterday that the party would distribute in stages leaflets and video clips containing slander against BN before polling on May 9.

He said the expose by the DAP life member also showed that the opposition party had malicious intent against BN and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

“The expose proves that they ( DAP) are willing to do anything, including slanderous allegations, as they are desperate.

“Malaysia needs mature politics, and there should be no slander and fake news.

“Don’t poison the people’s minds. Do not cultivate a culture of hatred.

“Gaining victory (in GE14) through slander and lies will be exposed eventually,” he said.

In Johor Bahru, Deputy Home Minister Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed said the police would investigate the allegation over the intended distribution of leaflets and video clips containing slander against the BN.

“Do not come to any conclusion,” he said to reporters when asked for his comments on the matter. He had earlier met the people at the Kempas People’s Housing Project.

Nur Jazlan, who is defending the Pulai parliamentary seat in GE14, said he was concerned that the police action could only be taken after GE14 and that the leaflets could have poisoned the people’s minds by then.

As such, he advised the voters to be wise in rejecting such information. — Bernama
