Dignitarie­s arrive early to cast their votes — Survey

MIRI: Many voters arrived early at their respective polling stations to cast their votes.

Barisan Nasional ( BN) candidate for Miri parliament­ary constituen­cy Datuk Sebastian Ting arrived at SK Jalan Bintang before 8am to greet voters, check his voting stream and cast his vote.

He was accompanie­d by his wife Sylvia Ling and his son, as well as Assistant Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Lee Kim Shin and wife Datin Christina Kong Shui Lin.

Miri incumbent Dr Michael Teo, who accompanie­d by his wife Diana Yeoh, cast his vote at SK St Joseph polling centre at 8.40am.

Later, Lee could be seen joining other voters at SK Agama Miri at 8.23am – he cast his vote at 8.49am on ‘saluran’ (stream) 2.

Mayor Adam Yii arrived at SJKC Chung Hua Pujut polling centre at 11am, and cast his vote at 11.30am on ‘saluran’ 3.

Former Miri MP Tan Sri Peter Chin Fah Kui cast his vote at 8.37am at SK Luak.

The former Sarawak United People’s Party ( SUPP) president and federal minister arrived at 7.55am, accompanie­d by his wife Puan Sri Ruby Wee Hui Kiang, son and daughterin-law.

Former deputy chief minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr George Chan Hong Nam arrived at SMK Chung Hua polling centre at 8.10am and cast his vote at 8.25am. He was accompanie­d by his wife Datuk Lorna Enan Muloon.

At one of the polling centres, 74-year-old voter Masnah Bujang was provided with a wheelchair by the election workers at the main entrance of SK Agama Miri.

The grandmothe­r from Pujut Padang Kerbau went early with her daughter to exercise their rights on the voting day for the 14th general election.

Besides casting their votes, the local constituen­ts could be seen taking the opportunit­y to mingle with one another.
