Candidates among the early voters in Sarikei
SARIKEI: All three candidates contesting the Sarikei seat who are registered voters in the constituency, joined other voters to cast their ballot papers yesterday.
Incumbent from DAP Andrew Wong Ling Biu and wife casted their votes at SJK© Sze Lu at 8am followed by Barisan Nasional candidate Dato Sri Huang Tiong Sii and wife Datin Sri Lau Yu Hui at 8.25am and Parti Bumi Kenyalang’s Wong Ching King at 11am at SMK Bandar Sarikei.
Other dignitaries who cast their votes for the Sarikei constituency were Meradong assemblyman Datuk Ding Kuong Hing and a political secretary to chief minister Teng Ung Woo.
The Sarikei constituency has 39,561 registered voters. A total of 46 polling stations began opening at 8am yesterday and closed between noon and 5pm.
Polling stations which opened from 8am till 5pm were SJK Nang Hua, SJK Ming Tee, SMK Kai Chung, SJK Kai Chung, SJK Ming Chang, SJK Ming Lu, SK Ulu, Binatang, SK Nanga Strass, SJK Ming Daik, SJK Bulat, SMK Tinggi Sarikei, SMK Bandar Sarikei, SMK St. Anthony and SK St. Anne.
Those that were open till 4 pm were SK Tong Hua, SK Sungai Kawi, SJK Yong Kwong, SK Sungai Gemuan, SK Sungai Mador, SJK Nam Kiew, SK Bukit Nibong, SJK Su Lok, SMK Sungai Paoh, SJK Sze Lu and SJK Tiong Ho while the polling stations at SK Bandar Bintangor, Tadika Kemas, SK St. Martin and SK Selangan were open until 3pm.
The polling stations at SK Tulai, SJk Nam Chiew, SK Ulu Stras, SJk suing Hua, SJk Su Lee and SK Sungai Petai closed at 2pm while SJK Kung Cheng, SJK tung Kwong, SJk Kai Sing, SJK Su Tak, SJk Su Ming, SJK Tung Kwong and SJK Hua Kee were open from 8am to 1pm and those at Balai Raya Kampung Selemas, Rumah Regina Sungai Selidap and SK Rentap closed at noon.
