Rural NGOs in Mambong get more focus in distribution of MRPs

-

KUCHING: Assistant Minister of Transportation Datuk Dr Jerip Susil has said that the bulk of his minor rural project ( MRP) fund for this year would go to associations and organisations in the remote areas.

According to him, remote areas are still lacking in many things compared with their counterparts in suburban or urban areas.

“So for this year, I have decided to approve more ( funding) for the nongovernmental organisations ( NGOs) in the remote areas of my constituency because I want them to catch up with others.

“I still allocate my MRP fund to the NGOs in the suburban and urban (areas), but not as much as those in the rural areas.

“So I hope those in the suburban and urban areas can bear with me this year,” he said at the presentation of MRP fund in his office here yesterday.

Dr Jerip, who is Mambong assemblyman, said he would focus on helping the village development and security committees (JKKKs), youth associations, churches and parentteacher associations ( PTAs).

He said the applications for this year’s MRP fund could still be done before June, while any application made after June would receive theirs’ next year.

Twenty-nine associations and organisations within Mambong state constituency received their MRPs amounting to RM276,828.
