Johor PH submits several MB candidates’ names to Sultan for consent

-

KULAI: Johor Pakatan Harapan ( PH) has confirmed it had submitted the names of several candidates to the Sultan of Johor for his consent for the new Menteri Besar.

However, Johor PH chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said these names would not be revealed.

He added that what was definite was that his name was not part of the list as he wanted to give the chance to a new face to run the state as his time had ‘passed’.

“The name will be known soon, and what is important is that it is the result of a consensus. We took into account experience in administration, politics, qualifications and eligibility, as well as other factors,” he told reporters at a press conference here yesterday.

Muhyiddin, who is also PPBM president, said what was important was that voters were hoping for a better future under a strong and experienced leadership.

Yesterday, Muhyiddan was granted an audience by Sultan Ibrahim Almarhum Sultan Iskandar at Istana Pasir Pelangi, and was understood to have presented the names of candidates for the post of Johor Menteri Besar.

He added that he would brief the party’s top leadership on these names tonight so that the name of the candidate could be announced before the swearing-in ceremony at 3pm today.

On the formation of the state exco, Muhyiddin said it would be decided as soon as the menteri besar is appointed.

However, he added the Johor exco line-up usually had 10 posts and he would hold a meeting with the PH component parties to determine who were suitable for these posts. — Bernama
