Experience Aidilfitri shopping galore at Majma Raya Fest 2018

KUCHING: The Tuanku Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah Complex here – or better known as Majma Mall – is set to host a month-long Majma Raya Fest 2018 campaign this year.

The sales festival, to be running from May 17 to June 14, is conducted by Sarawak Islamic Complex management and Chief Minister’s wife Datin Patinggi Dato Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang is expected to officiate at the opening ceremony on May 19.

“This will be the biggest and the much-awaited hub for Hari Raya Aidilfitri sale for patrons from all over Sarawak,” Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TBS) general manager Datu Abang Mohamad Shibli Abang Mohamad Nailie told reporters during the press conference on the event here yesterday.

“It will also help to the local business community to attract customers who are looking for items for this Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebratio­n. For the shoppers, they can also enjoy other activities that are also being held at the complex.”

According to Abang Mohamad Shibli, this year Majma Mall will host 38 booths inside the premises and 55 booths outside.

“All these booths have been fully taken up,” he said, adding that they will sell various items ranging from Muslim apparel for men and women, home decoration­s, food and health products to automotive parts that will be featured in a motor show.

For the weekends, shoppers can look forward to ‘Gema Adilfitri’ campaign in which those who spend RM50 and above in a single receipt stand to win prizes worth up to RM10,000.

Additional­ly, the mall also has many eateries serving various menus.

“Shoppers can break their fast at the mall, which it also houses a surau for them to perform prayers. Another activity to be running throughout Ramadan is the distributi­on of ‘bubur lambuk’ (special porridge). Additional­ly, TBS is also opening its counter to facilitate the payment of ‘zakat’ (tithe) during the fasting month.

“The mall’s opening hours are from 10am to 10pm. It is possible that the opening hours could be extended,” said Abang Mohamad Shibli.
