‘Miri has potential to attract more Italian tourists’
MIRI: Italy’s ambassador to Malaysia Cristiano Maggipinto has expressed his admiration of the beauty of beaches here as well as the variety of seafood available.
He said Miri is one of the most beautiful and attractive cities that will surely attract more tourists from Italy to visit not only Miri city, but Sarawak as well.

Assistant Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Lee Kim Shin and Sarawak Tourism Board ( STB) acting CEO Mary Wan Mering were also present.
Maggipinto also said that efforts to establish direct fl ights from Kuala Lumpur to the Italian capital of Rome are currently in the pipeline as a means to boost the tourism sector of both countries.
“When there is a direct flight, it is easier for Malaysians to come to Italy and for Italians to come to Malaysia, as well as to attract investors from both countries.”
Meanwhile, Lee said he welcomed Maggipinto’s arrival to Miri, saying it was his hope that the ambassador could promote the city to his fellow Italians not only for tourism-related matters, but trade as well.
