“Now that Lim has been appointed as Minister of Finance, PH had delivered one of its institutional reform promises.

“We have made a promise in our manifesto that the Prime Minister and Finance Minister shall not be the same person.

“Within three days, we have delivered one of the institutional reform promises,” he told a press conference at the state Democratic Action Party ( DAP) headquarters here yesterday.

He said Sarawakians and Malaysians in general can be rest assured that the PH government would honour the promises that the coalition made in its election manifesto.

On the state PH’s seven guarantees, including petro cash dividends, for Sarawakians within one year as pledged during the election, Chong said a mechanism would be worked out on how the 20 per cent oil royalty would be managed.

“Please be patient with us. We ( PH) only formed the government five days ago.

“The cabinet has not even been formed yet, but we will work hard for the people of Sarawak,” said Chong, who is also state DAP chairman and Stampin member of Parliament.

Asked to confirm on rumours that former Minister of Works Datuk Seri Fadilah Yusof and his elder brother Tan Sri Bustari would be investigated in connection with the Pan Borneo Highway project, he said “I can’t confirm the rumours.

“May be you should ask the Malaysian Anti- Corruption Commission ( MACC).”
